A Walk to Nefyn and a fflecsi bus – April 2024
A Walk from Gors-lwyd to Nefyn
There are lots of walks direct from Gors-lwyd Cottage, and this is one of our favourites – with a choice of pubs and a cafe at the end, what’s not to like?
Of course, the walk starts from Gors-lwyd and then we always catch the Flexi Bus back to our village. Although this can take a while due to several stops….just relax and enjoy the scenery!
How does the fflecsi bus work?
fflecsi buses can pick you up and drop you off in a service area and not just at a bus stop. You must book your ride via the app or phone, then a bus picks you up at your request, changing its route so that all passengers can get to where they need to go.
fflecsi buses are designed to carry passengers safely. Because they know how many passengers are being picked up, they can guarantee you a seat and avoid overcrowding. Here’s what to do:
1 Download the app, set up your account and choose your pick-up and drop-off points or call 03002 340 300.
2 Book your trip – Choose your pick-up and drop-off points. You’ll receive confirmation and live updates of your bus.
3 Travel – Head to your pick-up point in plenty of time and be ready to start your journey.
The Llyn Peninsula service is available from the beginning of March and here are the service times:
Service hours: Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 09:00 – 18:00
Prices depend on the journey, but they start at around £3. Concession fares are free.
So, back to the walk! Start from Gors-lwyd and walk up the path opposite the cottage. It’s the path that goes past Bryn Ffynnon (the house you can see from where you park your car). Follow this path and it will take you across the foot of Yr Eifl. Drop down to the road and crossover the road, going through a kissing gate. Look for the row of electricity poles – follow the poles and you can’t go wrong. Eventually head for a waymark up a small hill. Look for a gate in the wall on the right side of the field. Keep following the waymarks and eventually you will arrive in the village of Pistyll.
Here in Pistyll, it’s worth visiting the old chapel. It is so old that it still has straw on the floor! And it’s tiny! From here, head for the road to Nefyn. Cross over this road, following the waymarks to walk up the hill and along the edge of the old quarry. You get good views across to Nefyn and the coastline. You will eventually drop down into the Nefyn where you can enjoy lunch at the Nanhoron Arms Hotel, Yr Heliwr or the cafe near the Spar and Chemist.
Enjoy!
