Nefyn – A Hop Spot For Beers!
Did you know that Nefyn has it’s very own brewery? Cwrw Llyn (Llŷn Beer) is a traditional craft brewery which was established in 2011. In the early days of Cwrw Llŷn, the ales were brewed in a cow shed with the aid of third hand brewery equipment. Demand quickly grew and in 2012 the brewery was moved to a much larger premises in Nefyn. Bottling the beer also started here.
Cwrw Llŷn now produce a selection of six ales, with three seasonal ales also being brewed. Each ale has a unique flavour and they are all named after local places or people around the Llyn; Brenin Elli (Bardsey King), Seithenyn (ancient keeper of the gates between Llŷn and Ceredigion), Cochyn (named after a pirate whose grave is in Edern), Y Brawd Houdini (named after a song by local musician Meic Stevens – who used to live in Llithfaen), Cwrw Glyndwr (legendary founder of modern Wales) and Porth Neigwl (named after the bay and beach).
Book a tour of the brewery to learn all about the brewing process and sample some of their finest ales!
Cwrw Llŷn also have an annual beer festival with love music and tours of the brewery every July – definitely a hop spot for beers!
